Say what you want to see
“I want to catch the new release on Friday evening” is clearer than “looking for cinema company”. If you haven’t picked a film yet, say so — you can choose together with whoever responds.
Mention the genre or mood you’re after, and whether you’d prefer one person or a small group.
An example to adaptI’d like to see the new film this weekend, daytime screening. Cinema and time to be agreed; everyone buys their own ticket.
Agree tickets and seats
The simplest arrangement is each person buying their own ticket, with the row or area agreed in the chat beforehand. That avoids any awkwardness around money.
If someone offers to pay for your ticket, that is their choice — not your obligation. You can politely decline.
Meet in the lobby a little early
Agree a specific meeting point — by the entrance or the box office — and arrive 10–15 minutes early. That is enough to say hello and get acquainted.
A cinema is a busy public place, so it works well for a first meeting. Agree the exact screening in the conversation after a request is accepted.
Afterwards is optional
You can discuss the film over coffee, or simply say goodbye at the exit. Continuing the meeting should suit both people.
Afterwards, each person separately records whether the meeting happened. This page is an idea for a shared plan — not a listings service or a guarantee of company in your city.
