Name the game or the format
“Looking for two more players for Catan on Saturday” is a ready-made intent. No game yet? Describe the format: “something light for getting acquainted” or “a strategy evening”.
An example to adaptI have Dixit and a couple of party games, looking for 2–3 people on Sunday evening. Experience not needed — I’ll explain the rules. Venue: a café, chosen together.
Say how many players and what experience
A board game is a natural small group: say how many people you’re looking for. Be honest about whether experience matters or you’ll teach from scratch.
Pick a place that hosts games
A board-game café or a community space solves both the venue and the games at once. Check the venue’s rules beforehand.
For a first meeting, don’t choose someone’s home. Agree the exact place in the conversation after a request is accepted.
Agree costs and time
If the venue charges, say upfront how you’ll split it — for example, “everyone pays their own”. Agree a rough duration too, so everyone can plan their evening.
